The Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Computational Sciences at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has a mandate to offer mathematics, statistics, informatics and computational sciences courses to undergraduate students. The department was formed to serve the University with essential courses that were considered as important ingredients to undergraduate programs at the University. It started as a component in Basic Sciences Unit before being established as a full-fledged department in 1999. Students majoring in either mathematics or/and Informatics will have the opportunity to join a strong community, through participation in a variety of student-initiated and department-sponsored groups. The Department therefore aims at becoming a center of excellence in Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics and Computational Sciences. Thus, the department has a wide range of courses in both content and level at which they are taught.
